The State government has sanctioned ₹1,904.90 crore to local bodies as the third instalment of the development fund for the 2024-25 fiscal. This includes ₹222.17 crore for corporations, ₹193.01 crore for municipalities, ₹245.15 crore for district panchayats, ₹245.15 crore for block panchayats, and ₹999.4 crore for grama panchayats, a Finance department order dated February 20 said.
The instalment covers allocations under the general category, Scheduled Caste Sub Plan and the Tribal Sub Plan. The 2024-25 Budget had earmarked ₹8,532 crore as development fund for local bodies inclusive of health sector grant, 15th Finance Commission award and the funds under the Kerala Solid Waste Management Project (KSWMP).
As per a decision taken by the State government based on the report of the 6th State Finance Commission, the development fund excluding the Finance Commission grant and the KSWMP allocation is sanctioned to local bodies in three instalments.
