The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) which operates the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has issued a revised passenger advisory with regard to the airspace closure timing for the upcoming Aero India 2025 at the Air Force Station Yelahanka.

As per the revised advisory there would be reduced airspace closure at the airport from February 5 to 14, 2025.

On January 21, BIAL had issued an advisory that there would be airspace closure for a few hours on each day from February 5 to 14, 2025 and that commercial flight operations will be partially impacted.

The airshow is being held between February 10 and 14 and practice days are from February 5 to 8.

As per the revised airspace closure timing on February 5 and 6 the airspace would be closed from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., on February 7 it would be between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., on February 8 it will be between 9 a.m. and 12 noon and 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. On February 9 the closure timing will be between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

On the inaugural day of the airshow on February 10 the airspace will be closed between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. On February 11 and 12 it will be between 12 to 2.30 p.m. On the last two days (February 13 and 14) of the airshow which are the public days the closure will be between 9.30 a.m. and 12 noon and from 2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Sources said that the revised closure timing has been issued as airlines were unhappy as during the 10-day period, the KIA airspace was to be should for a total of 47 hours.

“Changes have been made in the timing to minimise flight disruption; the airspace closure time is now reduced. The airlines were unhappy and were continuously asking for change to minimise disruption,” sources said.

BIAL has further said that passengers travelling through the Bengaluru airport have been asked to stay updated on the airspace closure timings and revised flight schedules as notified by the respective airline.
