Apple Has A Major Porn Problem And It Cannot Do Anything About It: Here’s The Reason – News18

Last Updated:

Apple has been forced to make changes to its App Store policies in select countries which is now allowing apps like these to be available for users.

Porn apps are making their way to the App Store and Apple is worried.

iPhone users in select regions can now officially watch porn on their devices and this app is available via the Apple App Store. Yes, you heard that right. The company has been forced to approve the app because of the new rules applicable in countries part of the European Union. The app called Hot Tub is available on the App Store and you can simply search for it and watch explicit content without getting blocked by Apple.

Wait, porn on an Apple device, how did this happen? Well, you might be aware of the new EU tech rules which demand companies like Apple give more developers access to the platform and allow apps of different genres to be available on the App Store for its users in the region. So if you are an iPhone user in any of the EU countries, this app is officially available from this week onwards.

Why Apple?

Apple has been forced to make big changes to its products because of the EU in recent years. The biggest one of them was the push to adopt USB C charging ports for iPhones, iPads and even Macs because of the rigid terms in the region.

That’s not all, Apple and other tech giants were ordered to open their App Store to more developers and go lenient on their app checks, which has resulted in Hot Tub making its way to the App Store.

“We are deeply concerned about the safety risks that hardcore porn apps of this type create for EU users, especially kids. The truth is that we are required by the European Commission to allow it to be distributed by marketplace operators like AltStore and Epic who may not share our concerns for user safety,” Apple has been quoted in this report sharing its views on the new update.

The company has previously talked about its rigid policies and the obvious security concerns of letting people sideload apps on iPhones. Bringing an app that hosts explicit content would never clear Apple’s stringent policies earlier but in the EU that changes now. These new apps will be only available if you are residing in the EU countries, where even iPadOS and macOS have been opened up to support and comply with the new tech rules.

These rules will understandably be a worry for Apple, especially if other countries follow the EU path and make the changes which will change the face and philosophy of its famed walled garden that Apple has built for decades.
