Bollywood actors are known for delivering memorable biographical performances. From recent releases like Chandu Champion (2024), Srikanth (2024), Amar Singh Chamkila (2024) and 12th Fail (2023) to classics like The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002) and Sardar (1994), the Hindi film industry hasn’t disappointed audiences.

With some exciting releases ahead, ranging in varied genres like periodic thrillers, celebrity romance and sports dramas, 2025-26 might be the years of Bollywood biopics. Here’s the list of upcoming Hindi biopics to look forward to.

Azaad

This periodic drama set in Pre-Independence India, will introduce Gen-Z debutants Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani to the entertainment industry. In the teaser shared by Ajay Devgn, who also stars in this film, we see the ‘wafadar ghoda’ (loyal horse) of Maharana Pratap named Azaad and get a glimpse of the epic battle of Haldighati. Aaman and Rasha are playing characters belonging to different classes in the film.

Yuvraj Singh Biopic

The yet-to-be-titled biopic on the cricket great will be produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Ravi Bhagchandka. It will focus on Yuvraj’s cricketing journey, including his iconic six sixes in an over against England’s Stuart Broad during the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup. Ranbir Kapoor and Siddhant Chaturvedi are the two names making rounds for the lead role and Yuvraj Singh is reportedly in favour of the latter. Dangal-fame Fatima Sana Shaikh is being considered for the role of Yuvraj’s love interest.

Kamal Aur Meena

This Siddharth P Malhotra directorial will explore one of Bollywood’s most famous yet heartbreaking love stories. Kiara Advani might play Meena Kumari in the biopic, fans, however, want to see Shraddha Kapoor in the role. The film focuses on the timeless romance between veteran actress Meena Kumari and director Kamal Amrohi. A.R. Rahman is handed the responsibility for the music production of the romance drama.

Kishore Kumar Biopic

Aamir Khan is in talks to play the legendary Indian actor and singer Kishore Kumar in his biopic, which is being directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Bhushan Kumar. A Pinkvilla report read, “Aamir Khan is also a big admirer of Kishore Kumar and loved the vision that Basu has to bring the life of legend to the spectacle. The filmmaker has treated it very differently, and that’s what has fascinated Aamir the most.”

Abdul Hamid Biopic

Vikram Khakhar is producing a film to honour the martyred 1965 war hero Abdul Hamid, who was awarded the Army’s highest honour, Param Vir Chakra, for his bravery. The patriotic movie focuses on the India-Pakistan War of 1965. Interestingly, it is co-produced by Abdul Hameed’s son and former soldier, Zainul Hasan. This lesser-known tale was previously shown in a TV show titled Param Vir Chakra, where Naseeruddin Shah played the lead role.
