Canada – Jean-Noël Barrot’s meeting with his counterpart (13.02.25)

Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, had a meeting today with his Canadian counterpart, Ms Mélanie Joly, who was visiting Paris for the international conference on Syria.

The ministers discussed developments in US trade policy, Canada’s G7 presidency and the situations in the Middle East and Haiti. The ministers also talked about the situation in Ukraine.

Canada is an ally and affinity partner of France in international forums, particularly NATO, the G7 and the G20. France and Canada share a language, values, a deep commitment to multilateralism and very similar positions concerning the major global issues, especially the climate, health and human rights.
