Google is now offering real-time air quality levels in over 100 countries but users in India can benefit during the winters.

The Delhi pollution levels have reached hazardous levels which means you need to be equipped with masks, air purifiers and more. Google is doing its bit by enhancing the air quality index or AQI tracker with real-time data on Maps for users in India and over 100 countries.

The AQI data has been available on Maps for a while in the country but the real-time application means you can get a better reading of the current situation and make plans for travel based on the safety levels.

The new AQI tracker in Maps not only gives you better data on the pollution levels but also shares tips and guides you ways to tackle the problem with the air quality in the area. The AQI tracking for real-time purposes is updated every year which is better than a 24 hours reading, especially during this time of the year when the stubble burning and other forms of pollutants take over the Northern parts of the country.

The Maps will show you the air quality range based on colours, where green is safe and healthy, while dark red means you are in a heavily polluted area. The changes are already available on Google Maps for mobile users and the web version as well. You can even see the last updated timeline for the AQI reading.

Tools like these have become critical, not only in countries like India but others as well. Google is bringing these for free which means more people can easily keep a track of the air quality in their surroundings.
