Apple has finally introduced the new iPhone 16E model in India and other countries where it costs less than the regular iPhone 16 model.
The new iPhone 16E has a lot of the premium features so why is it so much cheaper?
Apple has launched the iPhone SE 4 iPhone 16E in the market this week, making it the newest member of the premium iPhone 16 family. The 16E is basically the new SE model for the company but with big upgrades in design, features and yes, AI as well. Bringing it to the 16 family means the comparisons of iPhone 16E with the 16 are understandable, especially when you can pick up the former at Rs 20,000 lower price than the premium variant.
So it was obvious that we will put these two devices to a head-on-head comparison and tell you if the 16E has enough in the tank to become a worthy choice for buyers.

Going by these prices, you can clearly see the 16E starts at Rs 20,000 less than the iPhone 16 while the highest 512GB variant of the 16E comes to Rs 90,000 which is flagship-level.
iPhone 16E vs iPhone 16 Features Compared
The iPhone 16E gets a marginally smaller 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with aluminium finish and glass back. The display carries a notch which lets you use the Face ID for security. It does not support a high refresh rate and its brightness level is lower than the 16.
The new iPhone weighs 167 grams which is marginally lighter than the 170 grams on the iPhone 16.
The 16E gets IP67 rating like the other models, USB C for charging, and a slightly longer claimed video playback time. It has the action button like the rest of the 16 series models. The device is powered by the A18 chipset like the 16 and 16 Plus models, and you get it with 8GB RAM which means Apple AI features are compatible on the newest member.
The big hardware difference between the 16E and 16 to note is that the former gets a 4-core GPU unlike the 5-core unit on the latter. No camera control on the 16E either. For imaging, the 16E gets a single 48MP camera at the back with OIS and a 12MP front camera for FaceTime calls. The main camera cannot offer macro shots and spatial photos and for videos, no cinematic or action mode. The iOS 18 version is the same that you get across all the iPhone models and the long support from the company.
The one big change because of the price tag is that you only get the battery to charge wirelessly using the Qi charging standard up to 7.5W and no MagSafe support for the new device.
Going through all this, you get where Apple has shaved off the Rs 20,000 from the starting price of the iPhone 16E. You get a less powerful display, toned down A18 chipset, a single rear camera and no support for MagSafe charging being the notable differences.
