Apple’s 2024 lineup is done and dusted with the new M4 Mac lineup announced recently. Now, the focus and interest shifts towards the company’s 2025 iPhone launch that is highly expected to feature the new-look iPhone SE 4 model. However, the premium iPhone 17 series is also likely to have some nice surprises for the consumers, including the rumoured iPhone 17 Slim variant, tipped to replace the Plus moniker from next year.
The Pro Upgrade For iPhone 17 Series In 2025
We have new reports once again talking about the iPhone 17 series moving to the ProMotion displays, no longer reserved to the iPhone Pro models. That’s right, the regular iPhone 17 and the 17 Slim/Plus is also expected to feature an LTPO panel, which in other words means adaptive refresh rate support on the screen. The details for this upgrade come via the ETNews in South Korea, as brands like Samsung and LG are likely to be Apple’s vendor for the OLED panels.
The ProMotion displays on the iPhone made its debut with the 13 Pro models, and was widely expected to be part of the full iPhone 16 lineup, which didn’t turn out to be true. However, Apple is expected to offer some big upgrades with the 2025 iPhone lineup, so moving the regular models to the ProMotion list has to be one of its focus.
High refresh rate screens have been offered on Android for years, and you can get them on phones for as low as Rs 20,000 ($240 approx). But Apple’s absence with the technology has surprised people over the years, which we are hoping gets finally fulfilled in 2025 with the upcoming iPhone 17 series.
Having said that, bringing this feature could make the regular iPhone 17 costlier than what you pay for the iPhone 16 or 16 Plus models this year. Either way, we’re eager to see if Apple does finally make this upgrade and bring more people onto the iPhone bandwagon.
