Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, is more than just a quiz show. We’ve often seen the actor and the contestants sharing their life anecdotes with the viewers. In a recent episode, a contestant recalled a hilarious incident from his past, sharing how his mother once beat him because of Big B.
“Sir, I once got beaten because of you. Your film Dostana arrived, and I was quite impressed with your wardrobe style. You used to wear bell-bottomed trousers. I was young and wanted them, so I asked my mother to get them for me, instead, she bought me regular trousers. But to match your vibe, I cut them but my mother found out. The pants did not become bell-bottomed, but I received enough beatings for tearing them up,” the contestant named Debottam Roy shared.
He continued, “However, later on, she confronted me, so I had to tell her I wanted pants like yours and then she bought me a pair of bell-bottoms.” The story left the audience in splits.
Listening to this, the Sholay actor responded, “I used to call them air-conditioned pants since the wide-legged design kept the legs cool. I am happy you bought the trousers despite the beating.”
Released in 1980, Dostana was directed by Raj Khosla and produced by Yash Johar. The film also starred Shatrughan Sinha, Zeenat Aman, Prem Chopra, Amrish Puri, Helen and Pran in key roles.
In one of the previous episodes of the quiz show, Amitabh Bachchan, who is also well known for his dressing sense, revealed that he wore his own sweater in the 1976 romantic drama film Kabhie Kabhie.
Big B shared that before the shoot, he had asked the team about his outfits, but they told him to wear anything he had at home. “Joh bhi kapde aapne dekhe na uss film mein woh sab humare apne hain… aur ek baat batayein woh log bura maan jaayenge abhi tak woh kapda wapas nahi aaya.(All the clothes you see in the film are my own. And Interestingly they have not returned them yet),” he said.
On the film front, Amitabh Bachchan will be next seen in the courtroom drama Section 84.
