Kannada Nadu Lekhakara Mattu Odugara Sahakara Sangha will confer ‘Dr. S.S. Siddareddy Smarak Kannada Nadu Sahitya Shree- Lifetime Achievement Award for 2023’ on Koppal-based author and Karnataka Rajyotsava award winner H.S. Patil.
At a press conference here on Friday, sangha president Apparao Akkoni and its vice-president Swami Rao Kulkarni said that the award would be conferred on Mr. Patil during the annual award and book release ceremony in Kalaburagi city on Sunday, February 9.
The award carries a purse of ₹11,000, a memento, and a citation.
Books selected for annual awards
The sangha would also honour five eminent writers with ‘Kannada Nadu Sahitya Kruti Award’ for their books. The award carries a cash prize of ₹5,000 and a citation.
The literary works selected for the Kannada Nadu Sahitya Kruti Award for 2023 are: Umadevi R. Dandoti’s Triveni avara Kadambarigalalli Stree Paatragalu, Siddaram Honakal’s Shayari Loka, Amaresh Yatagal’s Gathaanu Shilana, and Subashchandra Kashetty’s Katha Nakshatragalu, and Gundurao Desai’s Solle Friendu, Olley Friendu.
Similarly, those selected for Sahitya Kruti award for 2024 are: Akbar C. Kaalimirchi’s Accelerator, Veershetty B. Gaarampalli’s Gathakathana, Karuna Jamdarkhani’s Sangaath, Veera Hanumaan’s Kayaka Sharanaru, H.T. Pote’s Betthalada Chandra, Shashikala Modli’s Uttara Karnatakada Janapada Aacharanegalu, Apparao Akkoni’s Santrupti, Murgeppa Hanumanahalli’s Chaluvinolagillada Chaluva, Prabhakar Joshi’s Love Capsule Mattu Itare Natakagalu, and late Khadri Achyuthan’s Haddinakannu.
S.G. Siddaramaiah, former chairman of the Kannada Development Authority, would release the books published by the sangha during 2023 and 2024.
Sharanappa V. Halse, Vice-Chancellor of the Karnataka State Open University, Mysuru, will felicitate the award winners.
Mr. Akkoni said the sangha was established in 2008 and had so far published 163 books written by authors from the Kalyana Karnataka region.
