Kyiv’s Independence Square Becomes ‘Place Of Remembrance’ For Fallen Soldiers

Independence Square, known to Ukrainians as the Maidan, was the site of mass protests in 2014. Today, the square hosts an unofficial memorial to those who have died fighting in the war against the Russian invasion. Relatives place photos and flags marked with the names and units of their lost loved ones, whose numbers continue to grow as the war enters its fourth year.
