Leftie landlords fuming over Trump’s win plan Airbnb ‘blackout’ for presidential inauguration: ‘We do not welcome hate or misogyny’

Left-wing landlords who were left fuming after Donald Trump’s historic win have planned a city-wide Airbnb “blackout” on the day of the presidential inauguration.

Stacy Kane launched a petition which encouraged owners of Airbnbs across Washington DC to take their properties off the site or to hike up the prices and donate earnings to liberal causes.

As the petition stands, only four individuals have provided their signature, while two gave their email address.

Nevertheless, the organisers have stayed positive about the action on the weekend before January 20.

School director Kane, along with two friends, have shared the petition across city councillors as well as larger groups in the city to “show Trump supporters who are coming into the DMV that we do not welcome hate, misogyny, or intentions to take over DC.”

The 40-year-old Airbnb host said that they hoped to “try to make any kind of difference that we can in the situation we find ourselves in as DC residents and just as human beings right now”.

She said that she believed people were hesitant to sign up because they were scared.

“Even in this small effort, people have been silenced and are afraid to state that they are signing on,” she said.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

She rents out a two-bed flat which is located in the Brookland neighbourhood of the city.

In preparation for the new year, Kane took her flat off the website for the duration of the inauguration, hoping that she could help house anyone who intended to attend the protest march.

During the presidential in January, tens of thousands of visitors are estimated to visit the nation’s capital.

However, despite the anticipated influx of visitors for the monumental occasion, plenty of accommodation is still available online.

The mere thought of their presence in the city has sparked outrage amongst DC residents – as 50,000 protestors are expected to participate in a People’s March on January 18, The Washington Post has reported.

Some devout Democrats were so adamant in their belief that Harris would win the Presidential Election on November 5 that they pre-booked their trip to DC before Donald Trump won his second term.

Melissa Adams – from Oregon – claimed that she paid $5,000 to stay in Georgetown, as she “want to take [her] daughter to the first woman’s inauguration”.

Instead, the mother was forced to rearrange the trip to May.
