Liam Payne warned ex-fiancée ‘I’m going to die’ in harrowing plea as Maya Henry reacts to singer’s death
The ex-fiancée of Liam Payne, Maya Henry, claimed the One Direction singer told her “I’m going to die” in a haunting admission prior to his death.
Payne died after falling from a third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday. He was 31.
The One Direction star had been attending the Argentinian capital alongside new flame Kate Cassidy to support former bandmate Niall Horan at a gig.
Cassidy left a few days before his death and in the hours before his body was found, police officers were called to the hotel where they were “informed of an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol”.
City ambulance service provider spokesman Alberto Crescenti told the media that “the injuries he had suffered as a result of the fall proved to be fatal. There was no possibility of resuscitating him”.
Just days before Payne’s death, his ex Henry served him with a legal cease and desist order following bouts of “obsessive” contact towards her, her friends, and her family.

Also earlier this month, Henry appeared on The Internet Is Dead podcast where she detailed the lengths Payne would allegedly go to to try and get her attention.
She told listeners: “He would always message me, ever since we broke up, like ‘Oh, I’m not well’ — he would play with death be like, ‘Well, I’m going to die. I’m not doing well’.
“When I announced my book, he did the same thing. He called my mom [and said], ‘I think I’m not going to be around much longer’ and I don’t play with that.
“So if you say this, I’m going to try to help you no matter what you’ve done.”
Henry went on to claim that Payne’s friends were also contacting her due to fears over the singer’s wellbeing.
She explained: “Even one of his friends was calling me and my mom being like, ‘Oh, you know this just isn’t a good time for him’.
“‘I don’t think you should put the book out. He’s not doing well and if something happens to him, not only are you going to blame yourself but the whole world’s gonna blame you’.”
Both Payne and Henry have been vocal about the struggles and conflicts that ended their relationship for good in 2022.
The singer admitted he was “disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people” due to his behaviour while speaking to Stephen Bartlett on the Diary of a CEO podcast back in 2021. He endured substance abuse and checked himself into rehab before he died.
Henry and Payne began dating in 2019 and were engaged by November that year. Sources close to the model have shared her reaction to the news of Payne’s death.
