Microsoft is planning for the big Switch 2 launch this year and gamers buying the console could have some good news to be excited about.
Gamers rejoice! Microsoft is now planning to bring several of its popular Xbox games, including Diablo 4 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The reports surfaced online after Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer hailed the new gaming system and confirmed the company’s commitment to supporting it.
As per 9To5Toys, Spencer recently made an appearance on the Gamertag Radio podcast and stated that Microsoft is “looking forward” to supporting the Nintendo Switch 2 with what appears to be a host of first-party Xbox games.
Furthermore, he praised the previous model – Nintendo Switch, calling it a “massive success” and thinks the Switch 2 will be a hit as well. “I want everybody to be able to play on Xbox, and it does mean more of our games shipping on more platforms, not just PlayStation,” Spencer said, adding that Xbox values the work it already does with Nintendo and other platforms and would “continue to do more of it.”
Notably, Microsoft has already introduced several of its games to the current Switch, including Minecraft and smaller titles like Grounded from Obsidian, but it very much sounds like there will be a much larger push when the Switch 2 is released.
Adding to this, Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision is vital to their collaboration with Nintendo. As part of the agreement with the Federal Trade Commission (FDC), Activision has agreed to make Call of Duty titles available on the Switch 2.
Apart from Call of Duty, the list of other games coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 still remains unclear. Other major franchises such as Halo, Gears of War and Forza Horizon stand as potential candidates for the upcoming gaming system.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available in the market by April this year. The first-gen Switch was launched in 2017 for $299 (Rs 25,900 approx), but the price for the new Switch 2 is expected to be somewhere between $399 (Rs 34,500 approx) and $499 (Rs 43,200 approx).
Given all the new features including a bigger screen, inflationary pressures and now Xbox games support, the price hike would not be a big surprise for gaming enthusiasts.
