Samsung has confirmed its plans for a tri-fold phone which could be unveiled later this year along with other foldables.
Samsung has already confirmed its plans to launch a tri-fold device sometime this year and now we might also know what the new Galaxy phone could be called when it is unveiled. The company’s first tri-fold device is going to be part of the Galaxy universe which is hardly surprising but reports now tell us give us more details about the next Samsung device which is most likely going to become its flagship model when it launches.
Samsung Tri-Fold Phone Name Rumours
The tri-fold phone from Samsung is reportedly going to be called the Galaxy G Fold. It seems the brand is sticking to the Z moniker for its foldables, while the tri-fold model is part of a new G lineup which hints at more devices expected in the future. The device was part of Samsung’s roadmap chart at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event last month.
We still don’t have a lot of details about the rumoured tri-fold device but previous reports have said that Samsung plans to go for a different unfolding mechanism from the Huawei Mate XT that made its debut in China last year.
The Mate XT features three screens that fold outward, exposing the displays when closed and increasing the risk of damage. Samsung’s speculated design, according to Android Police, is believed to use an ‘in-folding’ mechanism with two inward folds, protecting the display while closed and addressing durability issues.
We’re eager to see how Samsung plans to go about this in space, as its foldable market seems to have stagnated, at least in terms of the looks. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 models will be announced later this year, and we could get our first in-depth look at the tri-fold device at the event, with an early 2026 launch timeline fitting into its schedule.
