Slack continues to bring new AI features for its professional customers and summarising files will definitely help many.

The platform is helpful for employees and reading files will be god-send

Slack, the US-based work management and productivity platform is reportedly working on a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) feature, called the AI File Summary, which will allow users to summarise their documents uploaded to the platform, as per Android Authority. While still under the development stage, the new upgrade is said to be capable of summarising text-heavy files, allowing readers to quickly understand the gist of the contents.

The report suggested that the update might be available to some selected users with a paid subscription to Slack and the AI add-on.

Research conducted by Android Authority on the latest version of the Slack app for Android (v 24-10-50-0) suggested that the AI-summary feature won’t work with some formats, files that have been password-protected or files that are too large. Additionally, it seems like that feature has its own maximum and minimum limit for how much content can be summarised.

According to the report, the AI Summary feature might be offered as a separate section on the platform, where users can easily upload their files and get a brief overview of the data. These summaries are believed to be sharable and are visible when the file is sent to another chat.

Furthermore, the users might also be able to delete these summaries and give feedback about the feature, such as whether the information provided by the AI feature was accurate or not, whether it included too much or too little detail or whether the layout was difficult or easy to understand.

This new feature is intended to simplify the process of maintaining and evaluating large files, giving users a more efficient way to consume and share critical information.

However, when will the company roll out this new AI feature for the customers is still not confirmed. Currently, Slack offers significant AI features which include thread summaries, semantic search and channel recaps.
