Two youths drowned at Jannapura tank in Channarayapatna taluk on Sunday.
Ganesh, 30, and Rohith, 28, of Shravanabelgola had gone to the tank for a swim.
Even though they knew swimming one of them encountered problems and the other rushed to rescue him but he too got drowned.
The bodies were retrieved later in the day with help from the Fire and Emergency Services staff.
The Shravanabelgola police have registered a case.
