Zayn Malik honoured his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne during the opening night of his Stairway to the Sky tour.

Zayn Malik is leaving no stone unturned to honour his late friend, former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne. In another tribute to Payne, Zayn Malik remembered the late singer during his performance at the former’s hometown of Wolverhampton. Several videos from Zayn Malik’s November 29 concert have been circulating on the internet, showing him dedicating the It’s You song to Payne. During the concert, he also took a moment to share some heartfelt words about his late friend, who tragically passed away in October this year.

In a fan-captured video shared widely across social media platforms, Zayn Malik, while remembering Liam Payne, said, “So, I’ve been doing something at the end of the show every night, and it’s being dedicated to my brother Liam Payne. Rest in peace. I hope you’re seeing this in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton, this is for you, Liam.”

The PILLOWTALK singer has been ritually paying tributes to Payne as a part of his Stairway to the Sky concerts over the past weeks. Earlier, during the opening night of his tour at the O2 Academy Leeds in West Yorkshire, England, he left fans emotional with a tribute. With the words “Love you bro” projected on a blue-toned stage alongside a heart emoji, Payne’s name, and the date of his birth and death, the message popped up as speakers played Malik’s Stardust in the background, creating a poignant environment for the fans and the singer alike.

Multiple videos going viral on social media also showed fans breaking down while singing along to the track.

It is worth mentioning that the opening tribute from the Stairway to the Sky tour came days after Payne’s funeral service, which was held in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. The singer had rescheduled his original opening dates due to the funeral, which was also attended by his family members, close friends, and all his former One Direction members, including Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan.

In a heartfelt tribute to the late singer, Malik shared that he never got to thank Payne for supporting him during some of his most difficult times. “I lost a brother when you left us and can’t explain to you what I’d give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly. I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever, there are no words that justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated,” a part of his statement read.

On October 16, 2024, Liam Payne died after a fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, suffering multiple traumas and injuries.
