Apple Watch Ultra series didn’t get a major upgrade this year but that change with the Ultra 3 in 2025.

Watch Ultra 3 could get some meaningful upgrades

The year is about to end but there is already a lot of chatter around the upcoming Apple products in the next year or so. We’ve talked about the iPhone SE 4, the new M4 MacBook Air coming soon but now details regarding a major Apple Watch Ultra upgrade have also come out this week.

Apple Watch Ultra 3: Expect Big Changes

The next Watch Ultra 3 model is reportedly going to use a MediaTek modem that will bring satellite connectivity like the iPhones to the premium Apple Watch model. The report from Bloomberg says Apple will rely on Globalstar once again to power the feature on its wearable and introduce it in the market next year.

The technology works by connecting to the satellite when the iPhone doesn’t get any network. Many people have relied on this feature to activate emergency services and soon the Watch Ultra 3 model could also have it under the hood.

It seems that Apple has decided to lure more people to buy the Ultra variant, and bringing this technology could help the company convince them to spend big on the premium version. Having said that, expect the brand to hike the price of the upcoming Watch Ultra version and probably club it with free service from the satellite for a few years.

The buyers that Apple targets with the Ultra would surely like the addition of satellite connectivity, especially when they like to go on hikes to remote areas or dive underwater. So, if they lose their network, the satellite can get them connected to the world and maybe send them a message in distress.

The 2nd gen Watch Ultra didn’t change much in terms of the features that you got with the original version, so we are hoping that Apple makes cosmetic changes with the next one.

Speaking of which, the Ultra 3 model is also tipped to support blood pressure monitoring but the chances of that being available from day one are low and Apple might eventually bring it via an update to the Watch Ultra models.
