Haiti – Wharf Jérémie massacre (10 Dec. 2024)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the massacre that killed more than 184 people, most of them elderly, in Port-au-Prince’s Wharf Jérémie neighborhood on December 6 and 7. We offer our condolences to the victims’ loved ones and our full support for the Haitian people and authorities.

France commends the national authorities’ commitment to bringing the perpetrators of these barbaric crimes to justice.

France will continue its support for efforts by Haiti’s national police and armed forces, and by the Multilateral Security Support Mission, to restore security in the face of criminal gangs.

In accordance with the Political Accord for a Peaceful and Orderly Transition of April 3, we support the restoration of security throughout the island and the holding of free, transparent elections.
