Sachin Tendulkar, who retired in 2013, remains the highest run-scorer in international cricket with 34,357 runs. He played 200 Tests, 463 ODIs, and one T20I.

Sachin Tendulkar was a record-making machine. Some of his milestones may not be surpassed for decades to come. One of those towering feats was achieved on November 20, 2009. It was the day when Tendulkar became the first and only player in history to complete a staggering 30,000 runs in international cricket.

The Master Blaster reached the milestone during a Test match against Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad. He managed to survive just four deliveries in the first innings when India produced 426, riding on centuries by Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni.

In response, Sri Lanka posted a mammoth 760 runs and declared their innings after losing seven wickets. Mahela Jayawardene stole the show with his 275-run knock that comprised 27 boundaries and one six. Opener Tilakaratne Dilshan also scored a century for the visitors while Prasanna Jayawardene remained unbeaten at 154.

Sachin Tendulkar had to score 35 runs in the second innings to breach the 30,000-run mark across all formats. He finally made it happen in the 44th over on Day 5.

Chanaka Welegedara bowled an inswinger to Tendulkar who pushed it to deep square-led for a single to create the historic record. He went on to complete his hundred off 211 balls, hitting eleven fours. It marked the 88th ton for Tendulkar in international cricket.

The Ahmedabad Test ended in a draw. At the stumps on Day 5, India had a score of 412 runs, losing four wickets. Apart from Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid was another century-maker for the hosts.

He opened the innings alongside Virender Sehwag and registered 114 off 230 deliveries before falling victim to Rangana Herath.

Sachin Tendulkar who drew curtains on his decorated career in 2013 remains the leading scorer in international cricket. He featured in 200 Tests, 463 ODIs and one T20I to aggregate 34,357 runs.

Tendulkar is followed by Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara who registered 28,016 international runs during his career spanning nearly 15 years.

Tendulkar also holds the record for the most appearances (200) and top run-getter (15,921 runs) in Test cricket. He is also the only player to strike 100 centuries across formats.
